Why do people die when they are shot?

Most people are fatally injured when they are shot by a gun because of the speed the bullet travels. With the speed it builds up it becomes more dangerous. With enough speed it generally damages vital organs or serious blood vessels.

In humans/animals(all vertebrates), three important components namely the trachea(windpipe), the carotid artery(bloodvessel carrying oxygenated blood to any part above the neck, upto the brain), the jugular vein(vessels carryng deoxygenated blood from brain 2 d heart), in addition2 the oesophagus(foodpipe) all run through d throat/neck. Stabbing or even slitting the throat can cause light or even extensive damage to any of these above components therefore causing death within 2-10 minutes due to either heavy bleeding(leading to blood loss causing brain cells2 die due to lack of oxygen which can cause unconciousness within 2 minutes and death within 5 mins), aspiration/choking, suffocation or gas-embolism(air bubbles entering the blood stream) causin obstruction of blood-flow 2 d head and eventually 2 d brain.
