Scientists estimate that a star can last up-to 10Billion years. To form a black hole a star needs to be 5 times bigger than our sun, then after 10Billion years when it starts to die, it expands and suddenly the whole stars collapses in a small sized Dwarf, now as the whole mass of the star is into a small sized planet the gravitational pull becomes so strong that even light can escape from it.
