i have always been a nervous person, and i get nervous very easily sometimes i don't even know why but when i go nervous i jiffle alot, by moving my feet or getting one foot to kick the other, also i jiffle my legs as well if I'm sitting down i will let them bounce up and down, if i am not doing either of them i will fiddle with some jewelry i have on or with my fingers and make them click, i also go very quiet which is very strange for me as i like to talk alot. But recently i have noticed that i tend to make strange vocal noises when i get nervous, i think of animal noises or just randomly let out a load of gobbledygook and i cant control it when it happens, if i try to stop myself from doing it, it doesn't work and my mouth lets the sounds out anyway, afterwards i tend to giggle, also i have noticed that when i make the sounds i go hyper and then i have to try and calm myself down otherwise the noises will get worse, i sometimes do this without even realising until someone tells me I'm doing it, then i will try and stop, but the more i try and stop it the worse it gets, almost like you cannot control it. I have been on the Internet and cant find anything about it, and have read some posts by other people, but none of them seem to do the same as me, and i was wondering if anyone else does this, so please if you do, or you know anyone who does could you please tell me anything you know about it, as that is the reason i posted this question because i would like to find out about it, and try and find ways to prevent it. thanks x

This reflex helps prevent choking by coordinating the muscles involved in swallowing. Trying to swallow rapidly may disrupt this coordination and make it more challenging to swallow.
