There are many reasons to be aware of our lunar cycle. The moon has an affect or is used as a guidepost for many cycles and events here on earth and in our solar system. The most significant affect our moon has on us is the gravitational pull it exerts upon our water. We notice this affect by the changing of tides in relation to the moons position, very useful for surfers or maritime voyagers. To some extent the moon also acts upon the fluid that seperates our brains from our skull bones, causing strange and unusual changes in behaviour seen in spikes of hospital ER visits during full moons. Earlier in our time we used the moon as a yardstick for measuring time. Between sun and moon positions we could accurately determine time of year, time of day and the passage of time. There are many other reasons to know about lunar cycles but most are irrelevant to most unless you are abnormally interested in space or earth cycles for any number of reasons.
