The 13 known moons are far fewer than the 60+ totals of Jupiter and Saturn, and most are likely not in their original forms. It is suspected that the one very large moon, Triton, was captured gravitationally and caused the complete disruption of the existing moon system. The current rings and moons contain substantial amounts of ice, and some may be fragments from collisions.
