HCL has a low m.p because of the covalent bond which is weaker as compared to ionic bonds. So low amount of heat is needed in order to break these bonds and hence the mp is low

Does hydrogen have a high or a low melting point?

hydrogen is a gas consequently doesn't have a melting point. You can't melt oxygen can you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually oxygen can freeze and melt: its melting point is -361.8°F (-218.8°C). Even hydrogen can freeze and melt: its melting point is -434.49 °F(−259.16°C) These are very cold temperatures!

Why does hydrogen fluoride have a low melting point?

Hydrogen fluoride has a low melting point due to its weak intermolecular forces. The hydrogen bonding in HF molecules is relatively weak, leading to lower melting and boiling points compared to substances with stronger intermolecular forces.

Does sodium chloride have a high or low boiling point?

Iodine, at p=p0,Boiling point 457.4 K,  184.3 °C(So I don't know if you'd call this high or low? compared with what?)However the difference with melting point of Iodine (386.85 K,  113.7 °C) is remarkably small (< 71oC) and the solid is quite vaporous far below its boiling point (Triple point 386.65K (113.5oC), 12.07 kPa, just below melting point).

Who will melt earlier benzoic acid or sodium chloride?

sodium chloride melt earlier because it has low freezing point

What is a compound that's has a low melting point and is ionic and covalent?

One example of a compound with both ionic and covalent character is ammonium chloride (NH4Cl). It has a low melting point due to its ionic interactions between ammonium cations and chloride anions and covalent interactions within the ammonium ion itself.

Naphthalene has high or low melting point?

Naphthalene has a relatively low melting point of around 80 degrees Celsius.

Does salt usually have a low melting point?

Yes salts have a low melting point. I think...

Do solids have a high or low melting point?

That depends on the solid: ice has a very low melting point, lard and butter have low melting points, chocolate has a relatively low melting point, wax has an intermediate melting point, lead has a high melting point, iron has a very high melting point, tungsten has an extremely high melting point.

Does sulfur have a high or low melting point?

It has a melting point of 113 degrees celieus

Can hydrogen freeze?

Yes it solidifies into ice at very low temperatures below about 150 K and low pressures.

What is specific resistance and melting point of fuse?

Does chlorine have a high melting point low boiling point etc?

Chlorine has a low melting point of -100.98°C and a low boiling point of -34.6°C.
