Why does the wick in my scented candle burn fast and the wax builds up the sides and makes a big hollow in centre of andle leaving hardly any wick?

How long have you been allowing your candle to burn at a time? Most candles have a minimum length of time that they must burn in order for the wax to melt evenly. If you are burning your candle for a shorter period of time than is recommended, then the wax near the wick is melting, but the wax further from the wick isn't getting hot enough to melt. It takes time to heat up the wax near the outside edges of these candles.

This could be due to a few reasons: the wick may be too thick, the candle is too close to a draft causing uneven burning, or the candle has been burning for too long causing the wax to pool and drown the wick. Ensure the wick is trimmed to 1/4 inch before each burn and the candle is placed on a level surface away from drafts to promote even burning.
