Because silver is an element. It is not a combination of other elements. The only things you can break an atom of silver into are the same basic particles that make up all of the elements: electrons, protons, neutrons and the other sub atomic particles.

Ag is the symbol for silver. And remember if you're in a test the first letter is a capital - and the second is the lower case (if there is a second letter)
