Jupiter is farther away from the sun and has less gravitational pull from it than earth , if it went faster it would leave the solar system. and it is because it is the biggest planet on earth so it needs more force to move it around faster

Why is Jupiter moving slower than earth around the sun shouldn't farther from the sun and heavier than the earth mean faster?

Jupiter moves slower than earth around the sun because the distance between the them is much farther than earth's distance to the sun. Gravity has a stronger pull on earth because gravity depends on the masses and the distance between the objects. (Sun)---->Earth (Sun)---- - - - - - - ->Jupiter

Which planet has the slower orbital speed Saturn or Jupiter?

Saturn is slower because it is farther from the sun. The farther away a planet is from the sun, the slower its orbital speed.

How far are we from Jupiter?

Granted it varies since Jupiter and the Earth aren't moving in tandem around the sun but a good average is 500 million miles.

Is it true that the farther away from Earth a galaxy is the slower it is moving?

incorrect. The farther away from earth a galaxy is, the faster it is moving.

How does Jupiter take to orbit the sun?

It takes Jupiter just 3 earth days to orbit the sun. Even though Jupiter is many millions of kms farther away than earth from the sun, the suns gravitational pull on Jupiter is more massive as Jupiter is thousands of times larger than the earth.

Why does Jupiter have a longer year than earth?

Jupiter's longer year is due to its larger orbit around the Sun. The distance it needs to travel in its elliptical orbit is larger than Earth's, resulting in a longer orbital period. Jupiter takes about 12 Earth years to complete one orbit around the Sun.

How much time does it take for Jupiter to orbit earth?

Jupiter does not orbit the earth. It takes 11.86 years for Jupiter to orbit the sun.

How many days in a year on Jupiter?

Jupiter has around 10 hours shorter day compared to Earth. It revolves around the sun once in about 11.86 Earth years. So, a year on Jupiter is roughly equivalent to 4,332 Earth days.

How long does it take Ganymede to go around Jupiter?

The orbital period of Ganymede around Jupiter is 7.154 Earth days, or about one Earth week.

How long - in Earth years - is Jupiter's year?

A year from Jupiter on earth it is 11.9 earth yearsAnd just to tell you this is really true

How many days are in a year on Jupiter?

A year on Jupiter is the amount of time for Jupiter to make one full revolution around the sun. The "year" on Jupiter takes 4331.57 Earth days (11.86 Earth years).Because Jupiter spins much faster than Earth, its day is as little as 9.84 Earth hours. This works out to 10,563 "Jupiter days" in a "Jupiter year."
