It depends on what you mean; your name doesn't determine who you are, so it wouldn't matter to those who appreciate you for your individual character; on the other hand, your individual personality makes your name significant, but more importantly, what you do for others makes your name more memorable. It all depends on how you see it.

If you don't share my understanding of the words robin, stone and window then that sentence would be meaningless and would convey no information.

Similarly with people. If I say "Pat is speaking with Joe about Bill", you need to know the people I mean when I use the words Pat, Joe and Bill. If you don't then I might have to add surnames to the sentence - "Pat Jones is speaking with Joe Sullivan about Bill Murphy" .... here, the extra information provided by the new names used might help you to identify who I mean.

Going back to the other sentence... robin - as a word - is a short of shorthand for "small-sized bird with a red breast" - and now you need to understand what I mean by bird and breast, and then if I have to explain bird I'm going to have to explain wing, and maybe nest.

Names are vitally important to good communication - which is the purpose of language.
