Air is like water in that the deeper you go down the higher the pressure. Think of a circle on the ground and imagine a column of Air above it. As you increase in height the pressure decreases. For water, the further a diver goes down, the higher the pressure becomes.

Air Pressure has to do with the Weight of Air in the Atmosphere. Imagine that the Atmosphere is like the Ocean. The 'Deeper' you go the greater the Pressure because there is more Fluid Volume above you pushing down. In the Atmosphere the LOWER the Altitude the greater the Pressure.

SEA LEVEL is an established STANDARD for Pressure measurements. But there are many areas on land below sea level and those areas have an even greater pressure than at Sea Level.

It is not.

Air pressure is greater because as you descend, you have more air (above you) pushing down on you. But this was not exactly a fair question, as the greatest air pressure occurs naturally at the shores of the Dead Sea.

It's just like when you go down in water; the water pressure increases. The weight of the atmosphere is pressing on the water surface, and the weight of the air and water above you is pressing on your skin.

When you go down into the atmosphere, just the weight of the air increases. If you go to the shore of the Dead Sea, which is dry land farthest below sea level, the air pressure is the greatest.

However, there are deep mines we can go into and measure even greater air pressures...

Air pressure is greatest because there are more molecules of air pushing down from above?

Air pressure is greatest at sea level.

Why is air pressures greatest at ground level?

It is not, air pressure is greatest at sea level. This is because the air pressure is caused by the weight of the air above you and at sea level the depth of the air column above you is at its maximum.

Is air pressure the greatest at sea level?

Yes the air there as the weight of the entire atmosphere on it.

Great masses of air molecules pushing down from adove?

It is AIR PRESSURE!!

What is the air pressure at sea level called?

Sea level pressure, sometimes as mean sea level pressure.

Where is air pressure the greatest in the atmosphere?

Air pressure is the amount of force exerted on an object by the atmosphere. It is greatest at sea level. It is greatest in the exosphere, due to the fact that air pressure is greater as the altitude rises; the exosphere is the highest level within the atmosphere.Air pressure is greatest in the areas that are small and enclosed. This is because there is no way to escape.

How much air pressure is on you if i'm below sea level?

Below sea level atmospheric pressure increases with depth. Air pressure at sea level is about 14.7 psia. Air pressure below sea level would be slightly higher.

The measurement of air pressure at sea level is called?

Sea level pressure.

Where is the air pressure greater-at sea level or on a mountaintop?

Air pressure is Greater at sea level.Atmospheric pressure is higher at sea level. There is more atmosphere on top of the observer at that point, so the pressure is higher.
