Blood is not always red. The colour is dependant on it's exposure to oxygen.

If there is oxygen in the blood it has a red colour. That is why whenever you bleed your blood is red, because it reacts with the oxygen in the air. When there is no oxygen in your blood though, your blood has a blue colour.
