Standard water (hydrogen oxide) is H2O. We get deuterium oxide by changing the two hydrogen atoms to deuterium atoms. These are hydrogen atoms with an extra particle, a neutron. Since hydrogen comprises 1 proton, deuterium being 1 proton plus 1 neutron is roughly twice as heavy. This is significant on a chemical behavior scale. It is an exception to the rule that changes in nuclear weight do not affect chemistry.

What is the boiling point of D2O?

The boiling point of deuterium oxide (D2O), also known as heavy water, is approximately 101.4°C. This is slightly higher than the boiling point of regular water (H2O) due to the heavier mass of the deuterium isotope.

What is the boiling point of magnetite?

Magnetite does not have a specific boiling point as it decomposes before reaching its melting or boiling point. Magnetite decomposes into iron(II) oxide and eventually into iron oxide and oxygen at high temperatures.
