because copper is located below hydrogen in reactivity series, thus hydrogen can reduce copper oxide which mean it undergo reduction reaction (loss of oxygen)

CuO + H2 → Cu + H2O

while, hydogen can't reduce magnesium because magnesium is located higher than hydrogen in reactvity series. it must be added with oxygen which mean it undergo oxidation reaction (gain oxygen)

2Mg + O2 → 2MgO

i hope this will help u a lot ^_^

Can you reverse the reaction of hydrocloric acid and magnesium?

The reverse reaction of hydrochloric acid and magnesium would be magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas. This can occur through the displacement reaction between the magnesium and hydrogen in the presence of an acidic solution like hydrochloric acid.

Why Cu does not liberate H2 gas from dilH2So4?

Copper (Cu) is below hydrogen (H) in the activity series of metals, which means it is less reactive than hydrogen. As a result, when copper is placed in dilute sulfuric acid (H2SO4), it is unable to displace hydrogen from the acid to liberate H2 gas. Only metals above hydrogen in the activity series can displace hydrogen from acids to form hydrogen gas.

Can copper be used in damascus steel?

No as it is unable to be forge welded.

Does copper kills virus?

Copper surfaces have been found to exhibit antiviral properties and can help reduce the spread of certain viruses. The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but it is believed that copper ions can disrupt the structure of viruses, rendering them unable to infect cells. However, it is important to note that copper is not a sole solution for virus prevention and other measures such as proper hygiene and vaccination should also be practiced.

Why is a copper wire not used to make filaments of electricbulbs?

Copper wire has low resistance, so it is unable to produce enough heat to glow.

Can you please produce a precise diagram of magnesium ribbon burning?

There is really nothing to diagram. Magnesium plus oxygen becomes magnesium oxide plus energy.

Why are esters unable to form hydrogen bonds with other esters?

Esters lack hydrogen atoms attached directly to highly electronegative atoms like oxygen or nitrogen, which are necessary for forming hydrogen bonds. In esters, the hydrogen atoms are bonded to carbon atoms, making them unable to participate in hydrogen bonding with other esters.

Why copper not attracted to magnets?

Copper is not attracted to magnets because it is a non-magnetic material. The electrons in copper are arranged in such a way that they do not align in a manner that creates a magnetic field. This property makes copper unable to be magnetized or attracted to magnets.

How many meters will be destroyed if hydrogen bomb is thrown on the land?

Unable to answer question without knowing yield. A hydrogen bomb can have practically any yield.

Which oxide cannot act as a reducing agent?

An oxide that has its oxidation number as +2, such as magnesium oxide (MgO), cannot act as a reducing agent because it has already lost electrons to oxygen and is in its highest oxidation state. This makes it unable to donate more electrons to reduce another species.

Why is magnesium the worst conductor of electricity?

An ionic compound, such as magnesium chloride, has no overall charge in its solid state and does not conduct electricity.

Is copper an elemnt or compound?

Copper is an element because it cannot be broken down past it's state of being copper. All compounds can pretty much be broken apart or separated, but elements are unable to be separated. Therefore, copper is an element.
