stars DONT move. if they did our SUN would move. IT DOESNT DOES IT??? no. the planets move. sometimes it seems like the sun moves but its the earth orbiting the sun. THE SUN IS A STAR! so its possible that somewhere in the NEVER-ENDING space, there could be OTHER planets orbiting another SUN. and on one of those PLANETS there could be LIFE. so earth could possibly be only one of the MANY planets with LIFE.

........possibly........

Distance. Stars are too far away for you to see them move. They are all orbiting around the galactic core but what you see is the light they gave off years ago (eg--a star 1,000 light years away, the light will get here 1,000 years later). Download a good star chart and move the time line back or forward then you will see the stars move.

Why is it easier to see the motions of planets than to see the motions of stars?

Planets are a lot closer, so their apparent motion is a lot more noticeable. If you stand on a hill and look at a distant highway, the cars may seem to be barely moving; your friend walking nearby (at a much slower speed) will appear to be moving much faster.

Why have most new planets discovered around stars been so large?

Because the larger planets are easier to see, the smaller ones may be there, but not large enough for our modern equipment to accurately detect.

Why can you see planets and stars on a night?

The reason you can see planets and stars at night is that their light is faint and the brightness of the sun obscures them during the day. At night, when the sun is not visible, the fainter light from the planets and stars can more readily be seen.

Compare the apparent motion of star to the actual motion of stars?

The actual motion of stars is very hard to see because stars are very far away.

What can astronauts see in space?

Astronauts can see planets, stars, and species.

What causes the motion of a planet like mercury that you see in 24 hours?

The rotation of the earth causes us to think the other planets and stars are moving from east to west.

Do any of the stars you can see have planets around them?

Yes. To date scientists have discovered well over a thousand planets orbiting other stars. It is believe that a large portion of the stars in the night sky have planets.

What planet is a star?

None of the planets are stars, only the stars. See related questions.

What are the planets in the galaxy M51?

How you see planets?

You can see five of the planets in our Solar System with the naked eye - they appear as bright stars. To see Uranus and Neptune, you need telescopes.
