Do you mean enveloped? A theory about why many organelles are enveloped is that of endosymbiosis occurred. The eukaryotic cells (like ours) formed a partnership with other cells. They had a safer place to stay and our cells got more energy. Mitochondria even have their own DNA. They also kept their own envelope.
