Not sure when this was asked, but from what I have read recently (9/20/09), because the demand for natural Gas is so low right now (given the current economic condition), supply of Natural Gas is at very high levels, to the point where storage of extra supply will/has become an issue (Gas is very low density, difficult to store).

With all this extra supply, not to mention the low price for the resource itself, production has/will decrease... for the time being.

What factors affect gas prices?

HEATING: During cold months, typically November through March, residents and businesses use more natural gas for heating. If the winter months are unusually frigid, there is a higher demand for natural gas. With a higher demand for natural gas, the price increases. SEVERE WEATHER: Severe weather can affect natural gas prices. Much of the production of natural gas comes from the Gulf Coast of the United States, which are prone to hurricanes. When hurricanes hit, the production of natural gas along the coast is hindered, which causes the price of natural gas to rise. LACK OF DEMAND: A decrease in demand for natural gas leads to lower prices for natural gas. During an economic downturn, consumers use less natural gas, resulting in a surplus of natural gas. This surplus drives the price of natural gas down.

Where is natural gas liquid found?

Natural gas liquids (NGLs) are found in natural gas deposits and are typically extracted during the production of natural gas. They are composed of components such as ethane, propane, and butane, which are separated from the natural gas stream at processing facilities. NGLs are commonly used as feedstocks for various petrochemical processes.

Is methane a natural gas?

Yes, methane is a type of natural gas. It is a hydrocarbon gas that is the primary component of natural gas found in the earth's crust. Methane is released during the production and extraction of natural gas.

Is propane the most common natural gas?

No. Natural gas is largely methane. Propane is a byproduct from the production of natural gas and petroleum refining.

What is a type of gas moved in pipelines?

Natural gas is commonly moved in pipelines for transportation from production sites to distribution points for consumers.

How can one create helium gas?

Helium gas is created through the process of extracting it from natural gas deposits. It is typically obtained as a byproduct of natural gas production.

Why natural gas price are increasing?

Because its expensive to build power stations and transport but once people use crude oil less then it will go down because money would go into natural gas production instead of crude oil

What are the key differences between coal and natural gas in terms of their environmental impact and energy production efficiency?

Coal and natural gas differ in their environmental impact and energy production efficiency. Coal produces more greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants compared to natural gas. Natural gas is considered cleaner and releases fewer emissions when burned. In terms of energy production efficiency, natural gas is more efficient than coal as it produces more energy per unit of fuel.

Who has more natural gas Cuba or Mexico?

Mexico has much more natural gas than Cuba, in terms of production as well as on proven reserves:Mexico has an annual production of 55.98 billion cubic meters of natural gas, while Cuba has a production of 1.2 billion cubic meters.Mexico has proven reserves of another 372.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas, while Cuba has reserves of 70.79 billion.

Can you use natural gas for electric power production?

Yes. Natural gas is used all the time for the production of electricity. Typically, natural gas power plants are small, on-demand plants which are used during periods of peak demand. These power plants are called 'peaker plants'. Natural gas is also used by most standby generators.
