Chlorine is often added to water as a disinfectant to kill harmful bacteria and pathogens. It helps make the water safe to drink by reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.

What is the best chlorine for above ground pool?

There are several types of Chlorine. All have good points and bad points. To answer your question: I recommend Tri-Chlore in a floater or Feeder. These are the 3" pucks or 1" tablets . They are the most economical. 99% active ingredient. Tri-Chlore is Stabilized, meaning it is protected from UV light and will stay in the pool longer. They will leave a white spot in the liner if they come in contact for any extended period of time and they will lower the pH a lot. Cal-Hypo is good but you have to add it every day and there is a lot of residue left over and it can bleach your liner as well. And is not stabilized the sun will lower the level. Di-Chlore is about the same. Sodium Hypochlorite ( Liquid) has several draw backs. One it ruins a lot of clothes, Two is will raise the total De-solved Solids and if they get to high you have to exchange water to lower the TDS. It also will raise your pH. It's not stabilized, The sun will take it out of the pool. Keep in mind you should never put chlorine in through the skimmer if you have a heater or Salt-Chlorine generator as this will eat out the metals. Then you end up with a lot of copper in your pool, and your water locks up. We'll save that for another time.

How does it save water by using a reusable water bottle?

Using a glass or earthenware or metallic water bottle saves on water because it uses less water to fabricate a lifelong water bottle than what it takes to fabricate hundred of plastic water bottles. It also saves on water because you don't have to import oil from the other side of the world, build a supertanker, etc., although this would probably be more relevant to environmental concerns in general rather than water in particular, and glass or metallic bottle factories use imported materials as well. A reusable hard plastic water bottle would save on water as well, but it usually contains BPA or other toxic compounds to make the plastic hard and resistant instead of naturally soft. Hard or soft plastic water bottles of any form are an environmental aberration except for extreme sports. You can survive a few hours until you reach a source of (hopefully filtered) tap water. You should use a metallic bottle for biking and hiking, but you don't need one at school, on the playground, at work or in the car. At home, use clay jugs. They provide naturally cool water (because the evaporation from the porous jug generates cold) and the clay itself is a sanitary product used in many water filtering systems, usually in combination with active charcoal. The jugs would seemingly be wasting (evaporation) rather than saving water, but central heating houses and apartments are usually drier than they should be, so a bit of extra moisture is good, and in countries that use chlore to sanitize water, water smells and tastes much better after these gases have had time to evaporate too. For countries that use fluor, although it is also a gas, it is usually used as a stable compound fixed with other chemical elements, so filtering is the only way to remove it, as it will not readily evaporate.

Why does water float and sink in water?

Water floats and sinks in water because water in water results in the mixing and diffusion of the water in the other water. This may sound silly, but the question was one dealing with water in water. The mixture of water and water will, after a time, become one homogenous volume of liquid.
