Most people would consider tidal power to be a renewable resource. However, some people use the following definitions:

Renewable resources: plants and animals that can replenish themselves after they have been used. Trees can grow again; grass can grow again. Chickens can be born from new eggs.

Non-renewable resources: minerals and fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) that can be dug up and used only once.

Flow resources: water, wind and sunlight are neither renewable nor non-renewable because they can only be used when and where they are. The energy in a river can be used to generate electricity, but it must be captured by turbines or it will be lost.

A:A flow resource is a resource that there is a certain amount of on Earth. Water is not renewable because renewable is a resource that you use up and reproduce. You can not produce water, you just clean it and reuse it. Tidal power is water power so it is not renewable.

Where is tidal power being used now?

France has the biggest tidal power plant on the face of the earth, unfortunately the only tidal plant in Europe. Tidal power uses energy in ocean movement (waves) to generate electricity. Tidal power, sometimes called tidal energy, is a form of hydropower that converts the energy of tides into electricity or other useful forms of power. Although not yet widely used, tidal power has potential for future electricity generation. Tides are more predictable than wind energy and solar power. Historically, tide mills have been used, both in Europe and on the Atlantic coast of North America.

How is tidal energy?

it is caused by the shocks of an earthquake and the earthquake is caused by the movements of the plates at the bottom of the earth

Which dams use tidal power?

A dam used for tidal power is called a barrage. Such dams exist in a number of places: Rance River, in France Bay of Fundy, in Canada Kislaya Guba, in Russia Other barrages are under consideration. See the related link, below, for more information.

Where is tidal energy used in the US?

Tidal power is used in Scotland, U.K., Ireland Tidal power is being used in many places. It would be used in many more places but it costs lots of money to make and install the generators. Also, finding a good place with strong enough surges of tides to actually generate the tides into electrcity or other forms of energy.

How is tidal energy stored and utilized for future use?

Tidal energy is stored by converting it into electricity through tidal power plants. This electricity can be used immediately or stored in batteries for future use. Tidal energy can also be used to generate hydrogen through electrolysis, which can be stored and used as a fuel source.

Is hydroelectric power the least widely used energy source today?

I don't know for certain but I expect wind power is the least widely used (wave power and tidal power are not used commercially at all yet, I believe). A lot depends on your definition of 'widely used'. Do you mean megawatts generated in a given time?

Where was tidal power first used?

Tidal power was first used in France, specifically at the Rance River estuary in Brittany. The Rance Tidal Power Station, which began operation in 1966, is one of the world's first and most significant tidal energy installations. It harnesses the rise and fall of tides to generate electricity, demonstrating the potential of tidal energy as a renewable resource.

How many years has tidal power been used?

The first tidal power station in the world was built on the River Rance, in France, in 1966.

How would one use Tidal power to keep from having an electric bill?

Tidal power is a renewable energy source used to generate heat and electricity for your home. Using tidal power means you cut down on the costs that gasoline and the power company charge.

Where tidal energy is used?

Tidal energy (or tidal power) can be used wherever there is a large bay or river mouth with a narrow outlet to the sea. This means the tides rush in and out at speed and are able to spin electricity turbines. The are two functioning tidal power plants in the world is in France (Rance) and it is a 240 MW unit and a 254 MW unit called the Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Plant in South Korea.
