I don't exactly know why but I think it was because they didn't pay attention to details. They got a lot of parts of the movie wrong. Movies are supposed to be a little different from the books, but they shouldn't be that different.

The first to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief was all the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at St. Boniface School in Fort Smith, AR. It was a school field trip to go see the movie. It was also a Battle of the Books ( B.O.B.) book, and so they went to see it. It was on February 12, 2010.
One major difference between "The Lightning Thief" book and the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" movie is the age of the characters; in the book, Percy is 12 years old, whereas in the movie, he is portrayed as a teenager. Additionally, the movie simplifies and changes some plot elements, character relationships, and key events from the book to fit the constraints of a film adaptation.
The movie is called "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." It is based on the book of the same name by Rick Riordan and follows the story of Percy Jackson, a demigod son of Poseidon, as he navigates his newfound powers and quests to prevent a war among the gods.

Clarisse is not in The Lightening Thief movie but in The Sea of Monsters and the rest of the movies its Bridgit Mendler from Good Luck Charlie.
No one plays Clarisse in the movie; they completely leave her out. :( Hopefully she will be in Sea of Monsters.
