they dont want to upset the owner and want you to remember them happy and not about to die I doubt the pet is thinking such grand thoughts. My third cat in a row, who was very ill, just disappeared as the previous two did. I think it must be instinctual (our second cat was a rescue who was sick with cancer and not attached to us). I think that, especially in the wild, if a animal died in its lair, the smell of the decomposing body would bring predators/scavengers which could threaten the rest of that family. It must be innate in animals (carried over to domesticated pets like cats) to drag themselves away from their home if they know they are dying as a last brave effort to save their family. I don't know this for fact but it makes the most sense to me.

What happens to the population size when organisms emigrate?

When organisms emigrate, the population size of their original habitat decreases as individuals leave the area. This reduction can lead to a decline in genetic diversity and potentially impact the ecosystem dynamics.
