I do both skiing and ice skating. For me I would say that skiing is the easier sport because it the easiest to get used to. You don't wobble like you would in skating and it's not as complex. If you are trying to decide which one to go for then I would choose ice skating because there is bound to be an ice rink near you which you could go to maybe once every week, whereas, skiing is a once in a while sport.
