Why plastic bags are not good?

Plastic bags are created from fossil fuels, specifically from refined crude oil. They are not biodegradable, so once created they pretty much hang around in the environment breaking into smaller and smaller pieces but never actually being broken down and reused. They are also often found as litter along roadsides and are a major problem in the world's oceans.wrong u out

Incidentally, paper bags aren't much better - they are made by cutting down trees. They can be recycled in some areas, but this is relatively uncommon and most people just throw the paper bags away too.

A more environmentally friendly option is to use old cloth bags instead - you can bring them to the store with you and use them thousands of times. They can be washed periodically to keep them clean, and when they are completely worn out they are often made of cotton so they will biodegrade.

No affense but why n the world would you want to ban plastic bags.they help you with your groceries and other (very) imortant things.i dont know about you but i would go insane without my plastic bags.lol

Paper bags are a very good alternate for Plastic bags because: They are bio-degradable and do not cause environmental pollution.

The main reason why people do not go for Paper bags is because, plastic bags are cheaper than paper bags. If we as customers insist with shopkeepers that we would not accept plastic bags and would take only paper bags, they would stop using plastic bags and use paper bags instead.

Ex: 100 plastic bags cost less than Rs. 50/- whereas an equivalent number of paper bags would cost 2 or 3 times as much. This is the reason why shop owners do not choose paper bags.

If they are made aware of the damage plastic can do to the environment maybe they would change.
