The other geography is called Human Geography, the study of humans and their interaction with the land. It includes the subcategory of cultural geography. Human geography is also called Social geography.
Geography is a factor in all war, ancient or modern. It provides both opportunities and obstacles. There is no generalisation which goes beyond that. You would need to be more specific, say pick on a particular event and ask the question around it, and a useful illustration can be drawn from that.
