Vesuvius doesn't erupt very often, and vulcanology in those times wasn't very sophisticated, to say at the very least. Chances are, most people in ancient pompeii didn't know that mt. Vesuvius was a vulcano.
People lived in Pompeii for the same reasons that people live in the area today--it was their home. In ancient times the volcano had not erupted within anyone's memory so the area was considered safe.People lived in Pompeii for the same reasons that people live in the area today--it was their home. They are non-living as volcanoes do not breathe, eat, reproduce, does not have any cells, does grow but does not develop.
Every one thought pompeii was just a poor town that got distoryed by a valcanoe in the Roman empire. But what I found out in my art history class was Pompeii was the Romans version of Vegas. I know it sounds stupid, but it is true.
Mount Vesuvius wiped out Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD79. It has erupted fifty times since then. No. The volcano is intermittently active, making it too dangerous and unstable for anyone to live there.
A disadvantage is that the volcano would kill you. An advantage is living in pompeii - Thomius Goldstonavit III
They don't. That's right, people don't live in Pompeii any more. The better question here is: How "did" people make a living in Pompeii.
79 AD. Volcanic eruption of Vesuvius. The eruption covered 65 acres and 3 cities with a pyro clastic cloud that covered the area in about 7 minutes with clouds of rocks, dust, gasses, and 900 degree heat . No matter where anyone hid or where they went in the area they would not have escaped the eruption. Today the volcano is still active with a million people living in the area.
Vesuvius erupted and buried Pompeii and the surrounding area. The debris was so much it changed the coastline and 65 acres were covered. The people who were living there had no chance to survive.
People living around the area of ancient Pompeii are safer to day than they were 2000 years ago because of modern, very careful monitoring of Mt. Vesuvius. Vesuvius is still an active volcano and still poses a danger, but with the monitoring, people will have warning of an eruption and can take measures for their safety.People living around the area of ancient Pompeii are safer to day than they were 2000 years ago because of modern, very careful monitoring of Mt. yes,but they were only there for the fighting in the amplitheatre
Pompeii was a desirable place to live for two main reasons. Firstly, the soil was very fertile, due to Mount Vesuvius, which was very close. The people of Pompeii didn't know that Vesuvius was a volcano, so were unaware that it was the cause for the fertile land. Secondly and lastly, the location of Pompeii was close to the Bay of Naples, therefore, it provided the necessary transportation for traders. Pompeii was a very busy town with people bustling about, and it can be said that there were many amenities of life.
there are no living things in a volcano
there is nothing good about living on a volcano because it will erupt again.
A volcano that is very dangerous is Mt. Vesuvius that last erupted in 1944. It is the only active volcano in mainland Europe. In 79 AD it buried the city of Pompeii and the surrounding area. It is so active that it could explode at any time with over a million people living near it. Italy has a system of a volcano threat level and it requires constant scientific study so people can be warned.
