Well, the Earth, the other planets and a vast number or other bodies are currently orbiting the Sun (Sol). And, the Solar system is currently orbiting the center of the Milky Way galaxy. And, the Milky Way and an infinite number of other galaxies are currently moving through the universe, known and otherwise along with an almost incalculable amount of dark matter. And, all of this universe, known and otherwise, exists primarily in space in a state of perpetual free fall.
Well, free fall. The Earth is technically always falling. Dropping on the other hand, while sometimes synonymous with falling is not so much so in this case. In this question dropping gives the impression that the Earth is suspended somehow by something, and this is not the case.
So, no. The Earth is not going to drop.
As far as we know, no rogue planet has ever come near Earth. Comets and asteroids have come near Earth, but not actual planets.
yeah in 2012
