If your shotgun is a bolt action fed from a box magazine. it is LIKELY a Mossberg Mdl 395K. These are utility grade shotguns- durable, reliable, but no major collector's value. Magazines ($27) and a synthetic stock ($75) are available from Havlin Sales. Vic Havlin and wife Cheryl run the Mossberg Collectors Society, and are very nice folks. The value of a complete 395K in good condition is about $150. Unfortunately, other sources for parts I know of are sold out of wooden stocks. NOTE: When asking a question, please do not write in this box, or the computer will send your question to the "already answered" bin- caught it by accident.

The Western Field Model M172B, a shotgun typically chambered for 12 gauge, can be accurate with 12 gauge slugs, but its performance may vary depending on the specific slug type and the shotgun's condition. Accuracy is also influenced by factors such as the shooter's skill, barrel length, and sighting system. It's recommended to test different brands of slugs to determine which provides the best accuracy for your specific firearm. Always ensure proper maintenance and practice for optimal performance.
