To get certified as an Armed Security Officer also known as Level II and III SLED Certification, you have to first get your Level I Certification which gives you arrest authority on the property that you are being paid to protect. So first thing is get your Level I out of the way. Alot of Security companies have in house certified instructors for this. (you don't have to be employed to get certified, but MUST be employed by a company to send your certification in to SLED and get your actual card.) The certification class for level I run about 105 depending on the instructor, and 65 goes to SLED. The level II and III certification is one course together which is about 125, plus 65 to SLED, and range fees. I would suggest calling around to some of the companies and ask if they offer SLED Certification classes. You can call companies such as Excalibr, AP Security, etc. I was an Armed SLED Certified Security Officer and a SLED Certified Private Investigator for 3 years. Currently work in Law Enforcement.
