In LPN school you want to become a sponge. In clinicals carry yourself professionally- I have had students get hired from sites that they did clinicals at.
You also want to do the following:
1. Start a portfolio- include your clinical experiences, any awards that you have won, certifications
2. Attend seminars- many nursing journals have ads for seminars like IV certification, patient care issues, etc. They also offer student discounts. This will show your future employer that you are truly invested in this profession
3. Find your niche- If you like wound care, then research it and read articles about it. In clinicals, if a patient has a wound ask your instructor if you can become part of the experience of changing the dressing
4. Become a leader and not a follower- in clinical, volunteer for tasks. This will make you stand out to the staff and your instructor
5. Join an organization- there are several organizations out there for LPNs and they offer student rates as well. Join and network
6. Study hard- I had a student go above and beyond by making up mock tests for herself and her friends. Where is she today- she is a charge nurse at a long term care facility and a nursing consultant at the school!
7. Subscribe to journals- see what is going on in the nursing world! This will show employers that you are a leader!
Hope some of these help. I have taught at the LPN level for over 5 years and these are some objectives that I have told students and now these students are in leadership positions at their jobs. They have also passed their state boards the first time

If I was writing goals/objectives for a computer class I might write; The student will be able to do a Internet search for a topic of their choice and find three sites that pertain to that topic and give the web address. The student will be about to open a word document, write a page, save it, and print the document. The student will be able create a budget using a word template. The student will be able to receive and send an email message. In each one of these you have measurable objectives and can observe if the student understands the computer and the concepts of what you are teaching.
