it depends on where you want to work in the nurse field. Most nurse practitioners regularly use a stethoscope, lights, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, syringes, vacutainers, and other typical tools of health care. A psychiatric nurse practitioner may use these less frequently, while a neonatal or acute care nurse practitioner may use a wide variety of high-tech equipment in the course of a workday. A nurse practitioner in OBGYN practice will also use a typical GYN table with stirrups, a speculum, microscope, pH paper, swabs, and slides. The equipment used by nurse practitioners varies as much as that used by health care providers in other fields -- it all depends on the practice type.
