If you work in a medical office or with people in the medical field, if you have knowlege of medical terms you can understand what your peers are talking about. If you are a nurse, medical assistant etc. you can "translate" what a doctor diagnosed a patient with to the patient in terms that they can understand.

People who work in the medical field-health services, doctors/specialist rooms, therapeutic services etc - need to understand the medical terminology that might be used in their workplace.

Medical terminology can be complex so administrative staff are not expected to know and understand everything as soon as they start work. In the course of their work they will often encounter medical terms they do not understand. Learning and correctly applying new terminology will be an ongoing process. The wrong meaning for a medical terminology can cause a wrong diagnostic and treatment of the client/patient.
