It's not an X, it's an intertwined G R which is the monogram of Gilroy Roberts, who designed the front of the coin. It's on ALL Kennedy halves.
Please post a new question with its date and mint mark in order to determine its value.
No known die defects to cause this, regardless I can't see the coin so I suggest you take it to a dealer or collector.

His name was John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and the marking on the half dollar is the designer's initials.

Or it’s just y2 or j2....
It sounds like you have a coin that someone has defaced with the "G" stamped on it. Half dollars with this sort of damage are not usually worth much more than silver value unless it is a scarce date and even then the value is greatly reduced. Today, June 21, 2009 silver bullion price is about $14 an ounce which gives the half dollar a silver value of about $5
The Denver mint mark adds no value to the coin it's just a big dollar. All business strike Ike's are face value only.
If the coin has one it would be just below Kennedy's neck on the obverse of the coin.
