"A Drink in the Passage" by Alan Paton, South African anti-Apartheid activist and writer, is a story about a young black artist who wins a prize for his sculpture. The problem is the competition is for "For Whites Only," and when the judges decide to stand by their choice, national outrage erupts.
The short story, A Drink in the Passage is about racism and inequality that occurs during Apartheid in South Africa. A black sculptor, Edward Simelane unknowingly enters an art competition that is reserved only for whites. Edward wins the competition and must endure the outrage of whites who disagree with his win.
In 1960, Edward Simelane won a prize for his remarkable sculpture. He did not know that the contest was strictly for whites. While the committee decided to give him the award, it created a nation-wide outcry. An Afrikaaner man, who is moved by the Simelane's work, invites him to have a drink, but is suddenly afraid to take him inside his flat. The film shows how class differences and racial prejudice can prevent us reaching, touching, and connecting with each other. This film was adapted for the screen from the Alan Paton story written in 1963 and winner of the special prize for short film at FESPACO. It was also screened at Cannes, the 1st Commonwealth Film Festival, and Zanzibar.

Since you didn't include the passage in the question, nobody can read it except you.
A story's "plot summary" could also be called an "abstract."
the plot of the summary is to explain the whole plot of the book because all the summary is is a recap of the main story's plot so you basically just restate the plot of the story in you summary paragraph

A Drink in the Passage was created in 2002.
The passage on the back of a book is called a blurb. It is a brief description or teaser that aims to entice readers into picking up the book and reading it. It is not a summary, as it typically focuses on intriguing elements of the book rather than giving away the full plot.
A logline is a one-sentence summary that encapsulates the central conflict or concept of a story. It aims to grab attention and provide a quick overview of the narrative in a compelling way. While it touches on the plot, it does not detail the entire plot like a plot summary would.
sometimes yes sometimes no if the story is short it could be but most of the time a plot is a part of a summary

Basically, it's just the summary of the main idea. If you've ever shopped for a book and saw the summary of the book, that's the plot summary; it just took everything important, all the main ideas, from the book and simplified it into a paragragh or two that told you all about the book in short. A plot summary is just that; a summary of the plot.
