I disagree with the above. Hymie in Spanish is James.

Well, here we go again...it can be said depending on which theory you believe, James can be translated into Spanish as Diego and can be seen as the equivalent of Jacob, Jake or JIM. Also, Tiago can be James as in the Spanish Santiago, or Saint James. Further more, I believe that both the above answers omit to accept one error, there is no such word in Spanish as Hime or Hymie, they are spelling mistakes. The words should be spelt JAMIE and Jamie is a name of Iberian origin. This last sentence may come near to answering the question as the question was based on an auditory presumption, in other words when spoken, that is what it sounded like. As we now know however, it is not written like that

Actually, the Spanish name is Jaime, not Jamie.
