Has (third person) = "Tiene" "He has a pencil."= Él tiene un lápiz. ---------------------------- The verb "tener" is Spanish for "to have". In the present tense, it is conjugated as follows : I have = yo tengo / we have = nosotros tenemos you (friend) have = tú tienes / [plural familiar : regular use only in Spain] you (general), he, she has = usted, él, ella tiene you (plural), they have =ustedes, ellos (male), ellas (female) tienen Note that the "familar" tú is different from the "formal" usted, although both will translate as "you". A group of only females would be "ellas". Uses for the Spanish verb "to have" include "being" cold, hot, hungry. "I am warm" is "Tengo calor", cold "Tengo frío", hungry "Tengo hambre." (If I'm very hungry, then "Tengo mucho hambre." - I have much hunger.)
