It depends on how you plan to use the phrase "years old".

If you are referring to a person's age, I.e. I am ten years old, the expression in French would be: avoir dix ans. (J'ai dix ans.)

If you are dating an object, i.e. This plate is ten years old, you would specify the way it is old in French. Was it made ten years ago? Was it purchased ten years ago? Etc. if it was made ten years ago, the French would be: etait fabrique il y a dix ans.
