Note: (2) thanks the person for listening in general (as opposed to say movie-watching). To thank a person for specifically listening to something, you would need "Merci pour l'écouter" -OR- "Meric pour m'écouter." -- "Thanks for listening to it." -OR- "Thanks for listening to me."
