The literal translation of "yes I am" is "oui, je suis", but this does not make a sentence in French as it does in English. In most cases a simple "oui" is sufficient, but if you want to emphasize it you could add other words like effectivement, tout à fait, sans doute, etc. Interesting side note: French and English seem to have different preferences for abbreviation. The reply "oui, je suis" sounds like an incomplete thought to a French person in the same way that "yes, I love" sounds like an incomplete thought to an English speaker, and yet the French "oui, j'adore" is a perfectly acceptable way to respond to a question like "tu aimes ça ?". Go figure.
Literally it would be "Oui, je suis" but if you say it in answer to a question like "Are you coming?" then you would say "Oui, biensure" Oui je suis is pronounced Wee dze swee Oui biensure is pronounced Wee be-ann sure

Unfortunately there is no direct equivalent in French for short replies such as "yes, you did". In most cases, just saying "yes" (oui) would do. Also, if you are replying to a negative statement, or are arguing with that person, use "si" instead of "oui". eg. Je n'ai pas joué au foot aujourd'hui. = I did not play football today. Si [tu y as joué.] = Yes [you did]. Context is important.

Most local newspapers have an obituary section. You should use that section as a guideline for writing an obituary, and once you have completed it, you can submit it to your local newspaper of choice where it will be edited and then published.
