As there is no equivalent name in French, the name could not be translated, like Francoise- Frances ( female) or Jackie- Jaqueline) when the very diplomatic French are faced with a name they cannot translate, they pronounce it as close to the original as the French accent would allow- this would be the case with AAliyah. Unlike the Spanish, the French do not normally translate personal names- thus they would have articles on Gina Lollobrigida- not ( Eugenie Lollobrigida).
