From what i can tell, without my tutor....its about the 2 people whom hate each other. then 30 years later when they meet up again by coincidence, they don't recognize each other or they don't try to....yet they are nice to one another, this is the irony of the story, otherwise i really don't get it! someone else pls answer! :)
Actually, I think the two elderly people were once in love, but they couldn't stay together for some reason. Now they chance to meet up in a park and they each find out each other's identities, but don't want to "reveal themselves" because they are ashamed of their respective conditions.
--Well the story starts off with an elderly women in the park with her nurse and an elderly man in the park complaining about some priests taking "his" bench. The old man is forced to sit next to the women and at first they are rude and sarcastic to eachother, but later on they realize that were once in love but dont say anything to one another because back then they were young and attractive and now they're old and crusty. Before they leave the park they plan on meeting again the next day and become friends but secretly they both know that they were once in love many years ago.
