When you have a word with 2 or 3 syllables, you should look for rhyming words with a similar number of syllables. For example, led would rhyme with bed. But even though "threatened" ends with the "-ed" sound, it would not rhyme well with the words bed or led. However, many longer words ending with "-ed" would work well as rhyming words.
