Albus means "white" in Latin. J.K. Rowling probably named him this because of his long white beard.

Dumbledore is Olde English for "bumblebee." J.K. Rowling named him this because she imagined him walking through the halls of Hogwarts humming like a bumblebee.

In all, the name Albus Dumbledore means "white bumblebee." It doesn't really fit together, but on their own both names sound great, right?

Albus Dumbledore is not a completely Latin name. The first name, Albus, is Latin, and it means white, possibly referring to his long beard. The surname, Dumbledore, is an old English word that means "bumblebee." In an interview, JK Rowling stated that she chose this surname for Dumbledore because she thought of him walking around the Hogwarts Castle as Headmaster and humming to himself.

Albus is a Latin word meaning white. Thus the name Albus could be seen in English as "the white one"
