The Greek form of Mark would be Markos.

But the name is not Greek. It comes from an Etruscan root, which in fact means exactly the same as the English word mark - "observe", "notice sharply", "recognise the right time".

Because of this general meaning, it became the name of an Etruscan god of the harvest (who "observed" the seasons). After the Romans conquered the territory, they took over the god, but their Mars was a God of War.
