Oni, youkai, tenma, tsukimono, ashura, and akuma are all also words that can be used for demon. In fact, "kami" tends only to refer to a ghost or spirit, while these latter words are all different words FOR demon (many of them being different "varieties" of demon found in Japanese lore).
