It's about this Indian businessman who was on his way home after a long trip with his favorite cab driver, Doss. The driver suddenly pulls over and yells about an old man coming out of a temple on the side of the street, however the businessman couldn't see the man cause he was actually a ghost, (his name was Krishan Battar) And he has been dead for about 500 years yet he doesn't know it so the businessman tries to tell him that by letting him imagine his wife that has died 4 years before he did, so he imagines her, then her spirit shows up to take him away.
The climax of the story is when the narrator, the Talkative Man, realizes that the old man who has inhabited Doss is dead.
That's the turning point. After this realization, nothing can go back to the way it was before.
