It wasn't necessarily one event. They were "las guerras floridas". They were events in which the Mexicas(Aztecs) hunted down other tribes and captured them as slaves to be used as sacrifices for their gods. When rain or food was scarce they would have more events like these because they thought the main reason for this scarceness was the fact that they didn't make enough sacrifices to their gods.
