When reading a short story, I might want to know more about the characters and what happens to them when the story is over. I might also want to look for more stories that have the same characters.
This story is assigned to me, honestly, at first I don't really get what this story wanted to impart, and later I found it interesting and it is heart capturing indeed!! Consequently, it is my task to disseminate the lesson learned that I've got from reading this heart-wrenching story. Death is just around the corner so expect the unexpected… the story "feast of the dead" depicts a family who loses the breadwinner, the only one who support them financially-their father, a heart-wrenching, eye-dehydrating story indeed, that tragic event had changed everything, and left a big question: what will happen now to this agonizing family? Who will support them financially? Thorough, this tragic event doesn't meant that if you are in the midst of pain, sorrow and other heartbreaking events like Gulnaz family, your life will stop there, of course it is not that easy to move on and just forget what had happened, but life must go on for those who still have their "life". Gulnaz as a mother who has a deep understanding and has a profound knowledge and wisdom should be the one who must accept and be strong enough for her children who are also in the midst of grief and helplessly depend their lives on her, but why she didn't do anything to the fill the empty stomachs of her children? And let her children suffers and feels the bitterness of life? Consequently, dying is indeed a pathetic and painful part of ending the chapter of our life; nevertheless, we cannot stop it, perhaps, some people ask and blame God why this turbulence happened? Why God gave us life and afterwards he will take it back? Why God gave us problems as such? But, instead of asking God those questions, why don't we pray for the people who do no longer exist? Instead of being lonely and sorrowful, why don't we move on and reminisce those happy and memorable days that we spend with the one we love while they are still around? We cannot take back what God had already taken; remember life and death are two invited guests of our chapter, life will come first, then, expect the second, that death is the end of existence. Hope you guys can read between the lines. Acceptance and hope are the best and the only way we can free ourselves from the agony that a sudden death brought us, this is the message and lessons we can get out of the story "feast of the dead".
