Hello, it all depends on what your business will do - as far as I am aware the only trade that is legally required to have public liability is a horse riding company. With every other trade it is just heavily recommended. Public Liability insurance protects you and your business against any damage that you cause to your clients property or persons. If you have any employees you are legally required to have employers liability insurance. It protects your business and your employees if they get injured whilst working for you - it pays medical costs and other associated costs.
What kind of work is the business going to be doing?
Kind Regards
Tim

Another name for liability insurance is "third-party insurance." A sole trader business has unlimited liability. This means that the owner is personally responsible for all debts and obligations of the business, putting their personal assets at risk if the business fails. Unlike limited liability structures, such as corporations, a sole trader’s personal finances are not legally separate from the business.
A corporation is a business structure that is legally separate from its owners. This means that the corporation can own assets, incur liabilities, and enter into contracts in its own name, independent of its shareholders. This separation provides limited liability protection to the owners, meaning their personal assets are generally protected from business debts and legal actions. Other structures that offer similar separation include limited liability companies (LLCs).

It is not required by law, but yes, I would recommend it. Say for instance there are some dead trees on the lot that you probably should have maintained, and these trees fall onto a neighbor's property or a person. You may be held legally liable for these damages. You can contact your agent to add an endorsement onto your main homeowner's policy to cover liability for another premises.

In Florida, boat insurance is not legally required for most boaters. If you just so happen to own your very own small business, you do not necessarily have to set up a limited liability company. It is not legally required.
I'm not certain that it's actually legally required. However, even if it's not mandated, if you don't have liability insurance anyone can accuse you of breaking whatever and whether you did it or not, you're going to be the one dealing with it, including shelling out for legal fees and possibly paying for it if you lose the case. If you do have liability insurance, the insurance company will be taking care of a lot of that for you. Bottom line: yes, you need liability insurance.
