Arthur Ryan.

Mr Ryan was headhunted from Dunnes, the Irish stores group, in the 1960s by the Weston family, which retains a controlling stake in ABF. He launched Primark from a single store on Dublin's Mary Street.

Mr Ryan is married to Alma Carroll, who came third when she represented Ireland in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest.
