It depends on how you're using it.

If you want to say, "It was my New Year's resolution." Then you could instead say, "It was my New Year's goal."

If you want to say, "Sharon and Mike needed some resolution in their failing marriage." Then you could instead say, "Sharon and Mike needed some answers in their failing marriage."

If you want to say, "I liked the plot, except for the the resolution." You could instead say, "I liked the plot, except for the ending."
